Obituary of Dorothy Mae Bridges

Troy - Dorothy Mae Bridges, 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday January 28, 2017. Born in Jacksonville, Mississippi she is the daughter of the late Henry and Corretta Watson. Dorothy resided in Troy most of her life where she and her husband , the late Joseph Bridges, raised their seven children. She worked as a chef for the Christian Brothers at La Salle Institute and later was employed as a nurses aid at St. Mary's Hospital and Van Rensselaer Manor. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her sons, Edward C. Bridges and Robert L. Bridges; and her sister, Louise Franklin. Dorothy is survived by her children, Ernest L. Bridges, Joseph W. Bridges III, David E. (Dawn Trombly) Bridges, Lynn Rhames and Paula L. (Howard) Faggans; and her sister, Maragret Nickson. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends. Calling hours for Dorothy will be held on Thursday February 2nd from 4 - 7 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Ave., Troy. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church, 189 5th Ave., Troy. Interment will be at Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
