Obituary of Gladys A. McIntyre
Gladys A. Marroney McIntyre (a/k/a “Happy”), 79, of Lansingburgh, beloved wife for 55 years of James E. McIntyre, unexpectedly entered into eternal life, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, on August 25, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse J. “Butch” and the late Beatrice D. (Becker) Marroney, and was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1961.
Gladys was also very proud of the guidance and life long friends that she acquired from her time at the former Vanderhyden Hall in Troy, NY, which led her to lead such a beautiful and wonderful life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to so many. She cherished her nickname “Happy” which friends assigned to her for, among other reasons, her happy demeanor.
Mrs. McIntyre retired from the NYS Dept. of Education, Office of Teachers Certification, in Albany where she had a lengthy career (1962-1995) as a Stenographer and a Secretary.
Gladys loved camping at Queens Village in Warrensburg, NY; Country Music; watching the news; keeping up with current events; travel, including to Nashville, TN and to the Grand Ole Opry; bowling; ceramics; making Christmas decorations; playing cards, Scrabble, and other board games with her family and friends at home; and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandson(s) and her great granddaughter.
