Obituary of Stephen E. Poling

Stephen E. Poling, 59, of Halfmoon, died on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Steve was born in the Bronx to Virginia and the late John Daniel Poling Sr. of Morristown. Steve was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Somers, NY. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Distribution from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY.

Steve was a sales representative with Emerson Processing Management, an industrial engineering technologies company based in Houston, TX. He was a Regional Sales Manager for many years and more recently, a Subject Matter Expert. He enjoyed the work in his field and the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues and industry associates.

Steve was highly knowledgeable about history, with a particular interest in the history of our country. Over the years he spent considerable time looking into our family’s genealogy. Also a sport enthusiast, he was a fan of baseball, football, and hockey. He helped coach his sons’ little league teams, worked penalty boxes, and regularly kept score throughout their years playing youth hockey. He actively volunteered with Boy Scouts of America, serving as Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, son Samuel and fiancée Victoria of Brooklyn, and son Philip of Halfmoon, his brother John D. Jr. and wife Maureen of Garnet Valley, and sister Laura and husband Paul of Morristown. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Crescent.

Calling hours will be Saturday, April 6, from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.

A funeral mass will follow at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church Crescent, 86 Church Hill Road Waterford, NY 12188.

Interment will be in Crescent Union Cemetery in Halfmoon.
