Obituary of Jeremy W. Schneider
Jeremy Schneider, of Rensselaer, NY, died peacefully April 19, 2024. He was surrounded by close family and friends during his final moments. The family is deeply saddened and grieves the loss of a son, brother, and friend who touched many, many lives. Jeremy was born on September 15, 1978. He attended Tamarac High School and lived in the capital district area of NY for most of his life.
Jeremy was always a dedicated, working man. A brief history of the jobs he held showed a young adult who graduated into a man devoted to serving the needs of the public. Jeremy started his working years at Price Chopper. He became locally loved for the bagels he made and the friendships he created. Jeremy then turned his skills towards food service. He spent many years at Lancaster’s in Wynantskill, learning floor duties and eventually becoming a short order cook. This love of food carried him throughout his entire life. Anyone close to Jeremy has at one time or another experienced his famous chicken wings or some other delicacy, lovingly crafted. Jeremy, later in life, held the position of bank teller at KeyBank. This is where he solidified his status as “Mayor of Rensselaer.” So many patrons came to the bank, not only to carry out their business, but to speak with Jeremy. He was charming, affable, engaging, and genuine. These key pieces of his personality, parts of his truest nature, were symbolic of his dedication to the public and how he presented himself. The last position Jeremy held was for the VA Medical Center in Albany. A place where he made many friends amongst the veteran’s he so deeply cared about.
Outside of work, Jeremy maintained his own slice of life from his home in Rensselaer. Of the many notable facets he presented, he is best remembered for his love of music (NIN and 90’s industrial rock), his deep affection for his fur babies, cats - Church and Artex, his friendship with his best-friend Eric, and the loving bond forged with his mother and father, brothers and sister, and most notably, his niece, Dorothy. Baby Dorothy always gave Jeremy great peace to his soul and made his world a little brighter when things seemed dark.
Notably, Jeremy, like us all, had his struggles. Everyone close can share this knowledge. He was the unfortunate victim of crime during a bank robbery. This had a profound impact on his soul and served as a catalyst for many difficulties he struggled with later in life. He, however, always had the support and love of his friends and family no matter what the days or years brought. And despite the hurt, the love he leaves, and the family and friends he brings together, momentarily outweigh the pain of his absence. He was loved, deeply and sincerely. What remains is an incredible, mile-long list of hearts touched and teary smiles left behind.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, Dianne and William, his brothers, Jeffrey (Carrie), Matthew, and Neil (Isa), and sister, Andrea (Larry), niece, Dorothy, nephew, Solomon, and an abundance of friends and family that will keep his legacy alive for many years to come. The family wishes to thank Pastor Dave Martin for his comfort and support during this time.
Jeremy will be missed more than these words can say. We love you, Jeremy. Be at peace.
