Obituary of Robert "Bob" A. LaBombard, Sr.
Robert “Bob” A. LaBombard, Sr., 77, of Halfmoon, beloved husband for 52 years to “Cris” Mary Christine Lobdell LaBombard, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Born in Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Arnold P. and Lydia Uvyn LaBombard and was a graduate of Colonie Central High School and the Watervliet Arsenal Machinist Apprenticeship Program.
Mr. LaBombard was a decorated U.S. Army veteran having served as an SP4 in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970 and was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), the EXP M-14 Regulation Army M-14 Qualification Bars and his Honorable Discharge for his distinguished service.
Bob retired in 1999 from the Watervliet Arsenal where he had been employed as a Machinist for 25 years.
Bob loved playing his LOTTO numbers, cards, especially “Card Night” every Saturday, dancing, the New York Mets and most of all being with his entire family. He also enjoyed travelling, cruises and visiting many different countries.
Beloved husband to Cris, devoted father of Michele L. (James) Smith, Carol A. (Jamie) Johnson, Robert A. (Angela) LaBombard, Jr., Jason P. LaBombard and Jessica M. (Stephen) Kinney, cherished grandfather “PaPa” to Meghan Neander, Alyssa (Michael) Stopera, Joshua Smith, Hannah Johnson, Nicholas Smith, Baylee Johnson, Payton Kinney, Makhylee LaBombard, Ashlyn LaBombard, Ian Kinney and Ryleigh LaBombard, adored great grandfather “PaPa” to Sarah Neander, Hadleigh Neander, Luna Smith and Makenna Stopera, loving brother of James R. (Kimberly) LaBombard, Patricia L. “Patty” (late, Michael) O’Toole and the late Daniel J. LaBombard, also survived by his loving aunt Joan (late Roger) Uvyn, several nieces and nephews and their families and his fur-baby Lacie. He was predeceased by two additional fur-babies Sophie and Sambuca.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT- 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 and to his Funeral Service which will be held in the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m.
Interment with military honors to include the U.S. Army, the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard and the Patriot Guard Riders will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
