Obituary of Alfred D. Serritella
Alfred “Alfie” Serritella, 73, of Halfmoon, a loving husband, father, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2025. Alfie was the devoted husband of Debra “Debi” Barnes Serritella, with whom he shared 28 years of love and companionship. They were married on St. Patrick’s Day 2011.
Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Angelo D. Serritella and Elizabeth Barker Serritella. Alfie grew up on Long Island prior to moving upstate and attending Colonie Central High School.
Affectionately known as “Alfie” and as “Butcher”, he retired after a 37-year career with Price Chopper Supermarkets in various locations serving as Butcher and Meat Department Manager. He owned his own construction business, “Serritella Remodeling” for many years. In retirement, Alfie enjoyed being a Greenskeeper at the Fairways of Halfmoon Golf Course.
Alfie was passionate about his New York Giants and New York Yankees, golf and billiards. He frequently traveled to Aruba which was Debi and Alfie’s “special place”. After years of encouragement by Debi, Alfie caught the camping bug and loved visiting Moffitt Beach with friends.
Alfie was the beloved husband to Debi, devoted father of Michael, Mark and Janelle Serritella (Ben Kubes), faithful brother of William (Linda) Serritella, Angelo (Margaret) Serritella and the late Mary Teresa Serritella. He was the loving son-in-law of John E. and the late Mary Alice Barnes, Jr.
Alfie is also survived by his Aunt Natalie Greene; his nephews Brendon, Loren, Billy, Ryan, Dan and Kevin; his cherished travel companions Patty and Toni Zappala; and many dear friends from his beloved local pub, where he shared countless memories over a cold Bud or Busch Light. He will be missed by his faithful dog Maggie and his cat Boo, as well as his several great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 2 to 5 p.m. with Alfie’s Celebration of Life at 4:30 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
