Obituary of Kenneth L. Goodspeed

Kenneth L. "Ken", "Kenny" Goodspeed, 79, of Lansingburgh, beloved husband of over 55 years of Kathleen M. Gratton Goodspeed of Lansingburgh, entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 1, 2016.
Born and raised in Wells, VT, he was the son of the late Roy and Janet K. Kidder Goodspeed and was a graduate of Galway High School.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper and was honorably discharged in 1963.
Mr. Goodspeed retired from BENDIX Corp (now Honeywell) in Green Island where he was a dedicated employee for over 30 years. He had also been employed part-time at the former Montgomery Ward's in Menands. Kenny also took great pride in being the field caretaker of Cahrenger Stadium, Home of the Lansingburgh Independent Baseball League (LIBL).
Ken was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his boys at hunting camp in Lake Desolation, was an animal lover, enjoyed scrapping and was a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh.
Beloved husband for over 55 years of Kathleen of Lansingburgh, devoted father of Kenneth L. Goodspeed, Jr. of Troy, Harold "Howie" (Terri) Goodspeed of Brunswick, Roy (Tammy) Goodspeed of Louisville, KY, Darryl (Brenda Pestillo) Goodspeed of Waterford, Shawn Goodspeed of West Hollywood, CA and the late Kyle A. Goodspeed, dear brother of Lynn Goodspeed of Fort Johnson, NY, Wilbur Goodspeed of Chatham, NY, Jane Watroba of Fort Johnson, NY, Muriel Goodspeed of Charlton, NY, Kathryn Harvell of North Carolina and the late Elizabeth Goodspeed, George Goodspeed, Mary Richardson, Alice Zukas and Seth Goodspeed, also survived by his 13 loving grandchildren, 12 adored great grandchildren, his canine companion "Bailey" and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held on Friday morning at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182, thence to St. Augustine’s Church, Lansingburgh where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment with military honors will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the Mohawk Hudson Human Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204, in memory of Kenneth L. Goodspeed.
