Obituary of Kathleen M. O'Brien

     Kathleen M. O’ Brien, 91, of Cooks Court,  died on Monday March 5, 2018 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy.  She was born in Troy, NY on May 7, 1926 and was the daughter of the late John and Rebecca Sage McTavey.  She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy and the former Albany Teachers College (SUNY).  She was the beloved wife of the late John F. O’Brien who died on May 3, 2016.  She retired as a teacher from CCHS and earlier she had worked for the Troy School District for over 15 years.  She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Crescent. 

     She is the devoted mother of  Michael (Nancy Champlin) O’Brien of Glenville, Aileen (David) Dirtadian of Clifton Park, Dennis (Amy) O’Brien of Mechanicsville, VA and Patrick (Kristin) O’Brien of Rensselaer; sister of Fr. Lawrence McTavey of Halfmoon and the late John McTavey;  cherished grandmother of Caitlin and Nathan O’Brien, Sage and Alise Dirtadian, Connor, Keira and Liam O’Brien and Brenna O’Brien; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

     Funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 am from St. Mary’s Church in Crescent where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated .

     Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 pm in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park, NY 12065 . 

     Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Troy.
