I worked with Howie for a short time when I was a new navigator. He taught me a lot about being a good officer and nav. He was a great mentor to newbies; tough and kind at the same time. RIP Colonel.

I knew Howie (as he was known then) at the Milne School. He was a catcher for the baseball team and I was student manager/scorekeeper. It's always sad to learn of the death of a fellow alumnus.

Howard was one of my dearest friends. His wisdom and kindness were a precious gift. We spent many hours talking and listening to each other. He tught me so much about life. His kindness was like no other, even while he was facing his own medical issues he would offer to assist me with rides or whatever for my mom who has not been well. I loved hearing stories about his family and his love for them. He was so proud of his granddaughter and loved that she traveled. He loved his son Tod and taking him to movies, to Florida and McDonald's. He would tell me stories of his son Jonathon, he would beam when he spoke of him. He was more than proud. I saw Howard show emotion once and only once and that's when he told me about when Jonathon and he traveled to Washington DC. He shared his photos of this trip. He shared how special this was to him. He told me how happy he was that his son Jonathon married Malory. How much they loved Lake Placid. He was so proud about how quickly Malory moved into her career, he loved her cooking, the pictures of goats she picked out for him and he loved how good she was for his son. He would always tell me how surprised he was at how much they loved sushi. He also shared stories about Dona. I could always tell the love he had for her and how much respect he had for her. I loved getting to know this side of Howard. I will miss him so much, his wisdom, but most of all his friendship.

My sincere condolences for the loss of Howard. Be assured that the almighty God truly cares for the family!
May you find comfort in the promise that "... there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous" (Acts 24:15), and very soon "... no resident will say, 'I am sick'" (Isa. 33:24) because "... death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”(Rev. 21:4)
How is this possible? Visit JW. ORG and search for 'Why did Jesus die?'. Then watch the video.
