Obituary of Christine H. Harrington

Christine Ann Hemphill Harrington, 71, of Cohoes, N.Y., passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, following a short illness.  

She served as Executive Director of New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA) prior to her retirement. Chris, along with her family, built a house in rural Brunswick, N.Y., where they lived for 35 years. She loved animals, and the Harrington home became the sanctuary for many rescue dogs and cats over the years, as well as a variety of other pets and livestock including horses, chickens, turkeys and the occasional 4-H bunny.

Chris loved the water and spent many days working on and enjoying The Lake House she and her husband renovated in Johnsburg, N.Y.; she also enjoyed spending time at their beach house in the Outer Banks, N.C. 

Chris is survived by her husband, Stephen B. Harrington; children Sarah Creasy (Kevin), Kate Waxon (Doug), Charlie Harrington and Jenn Harrington Brock (Don); grandchildren Hayley, Olivia, Blayne and Isaac; sisters and brothers-in-law Lesley Granahan (Dan), Elizabeth Chiapponi (Jim), Allyson Edwards (Anthony) and Tim Vecchiarelli; nieces and nephews Colleen Collins (Dave), Tim Granahan (Jaime), Chris Chiapponi (Stephanie), Charlotte Vecchiarelli (Kyle) and Nick Vecchiarelli; great-nephew and great-nieces Dylan, Emma and Brenna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winifred and Edward Hemphill, Jr., and grand-daughter Caroline.

A private celebration of her life will be held. Donations may be made in her name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Avenue  Menands, N.Y. 12204.
