Obituary of John Michael Grimes

John Michael Grimes (Jack), 65, of Burnt Hills, NY, a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother entered eternal life Friday afternoon, October 25, 2019. Born in Schenectady, NY he was the son of the late Mark and Jane Grimes. 

Jack is survived by his wife of 42 years, Constance LaJoie (Connie Grimes); his children, Michael Grimes (Monique), Maria Adams (David),  Elizabeth Palermo (Jared) and the late David Grimes;  his nine siblings, Joe Grimes (Jary), Mark Grimes, Janet Baron, Jane Grimes (Lou Carol), Laurie Monlea, Marylynn Grimes, Sharon Toohey, Michael Grimes, Tommy Grimes; and his four grandchildren, Ocean Grimes, Skylar Grimes, Lily Adams and Arlo Adams; in addition to countless number of other loving nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

Jack worked as a machinist until 1980 when he opened his own machine and welding job shop.  He was an incredibly talented machinist and welder and an Indian motorcycle restoration specialist. 

He lived a full life the way he wanted, regardless of what social norms dictated.  He loved God, family, and Country, and believed that was the order in which to live life.  He was passionate about the constitution, bible and Indian motorcycles.  He loved spending his time with his children and playing with his grandchildren.  He was a wonderful, loving Papa.  His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he touched throughout his life.  Jack will be greatly missed and forever loved. 

Funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. Calling hours will be from 3:30-5:30pm Friday in the funeral home. 

A celebration of life for friends and family will be held at The Knight of Columbus, 328 Troy Schenectrady Road, Latham, NY 12110 following the visitation.
